Job responsibilities Responsibility for people management Provide line management for allocated teams within CYPFS likely to include the Safeguarding Children Team and Named Nurses Ensure all staff are supervised and supported in accordance with LSW policies and procedures, including annual appraisals and PDPs. Recruit and retain staff, manage sickness absence and performance manage as required. Identify training and development needs and support continuous professional development. Manage, motivate, and develop staff within teams to ensure that they are able to deliver work plans in a timely way. Ensure that all clinical staff are delivering comprehensive and evidence-based care. Promote and maintain an evidence-based culture for clinical staff, ensuring effective local and national networks for sharing of practice. Lead reflective learning from practice, undertaking Root Cause Analysis and implementation of actions plans in order to make improvements to clinical practice across the organisation. Offer clinical supervision to managed staff and within other CYPFS teams and if appropriate to external organisations. Delivers specialist training to staff and contributes to education programme. Promote professional leadership and act as an adviser for all aspects of professional and governance issues. Provide strong and visible professional leadership and specialist advice to staff and service users. Assist individual members of staff in resolving conflicts that arise in the workplace. Provide expert advice on professional accountability issues and lead or advise on complex and sensitive investigative or disciplinary processes or panels, which could involve cases of alleged gross misconduct and potential dismissal. Support the Peer Review process by leading reviews and feeding back recommendations. Responsibility for financial and/or physical resources Authorised signatory and holds a delegated budget. Contributes to strategic financial planning and investment decisions within CYPFS. Empower the workforce to ensure maximum efficiency and reduce costs in line with cost improvement plans. Responsibility for administration Ensure that processes are in place to accurately document clinical and management information and to make this available to those who need it. Ensure that all clinical recording follows professional body and LSW policy, adhering to The General Data Protection Regulation. Responsibility for people who use our services. Advise the Assistant Director and Strategic Lead of CYPFS, Senior Management Team, the Board, and subgroups of the Board in relation to clinical practice and professional issues. Support the Assistant Director and Deputy Operational and Strategic Lead of CYPFS, Director of Professional Practice, Quality and Safety in the management of Serious Incident and PSIRF process. Undertake investigations into complex serious incidents involving relevant stakeholders including staff, patients and families and develop solutions/action plans to address areas of weakness/concerns which have been identified. Lead on PSIRF for CYPFS ensuring the reports and recommendations are shared and implemented. Ensure that safeguarding practice meets national standards and promotes interagency working. Actively seek service user feedback and use this to ensure that service improvement is responsive to needs and work towards co-production of services. Work closely with the Infection Prevention and Control team to embed effective infection control processes. Work closely with the Risk Management Team to ensure the effective implementation of the corporate risk agenda and advise clinical staff with risk assessments from a professional perspective. Responsibility for policy and/or service developments Responsible for interpreting and implementing national policy in relation to health and care provision and developing and implementing systems to demonstrate compliance with these requirements. Assist the Assistant Director and Strategic Lead, CYPFS and Director Professional Practice, Quality and Safety in the delivery of key targets, including quality outcome indicators and Care Quality Commission outcomes. Support the development and assurance of the clinical elements of CQUIN goals, and the CYPFS outcome framework ensuring that staff understand their importance to patient care and quality. Lead on Harm Free Care and the implementation of the National Patient Safety and quality Programme to ensure that high standards of care are delivered. Ensure NICE Guidelines are implemented and where areas of non-compliance are raised that action plans are developed to address issues. Work with strategic and operational managers to implement effective practice, policies, protocols, and service developments and to ensure implementation at local level. Advise and assist in the development of systems and processes to facilitate an assessment of progress against the CQC standards. Celebrate good practice and seek opportunities to endorse best practice by chairing Professional Forums.
