Description: 37 hours per week - Stroud 6 Salary 45,091p.a. - Essential Car UserThis is an exciting time to join Stroud District Council’s Community Services Team as we continue strengthening our asset‑based community development approach. This leadership role is pivotal in shaping safe, cohesive, resilient communities across our district. You will lead our Community Safety function, manage a team of dedicated officers, and work closely with partners to deliver impactful, evidence‑based community safety initiatives.About the roleAs our Community Safety Manager, you will lead and develop community safety initiatives across the district, working collaboratively with internal teams, external agencies, voluntary organisations, and residents. You will coordinate multi‑agency responses to crime and community concerns, support strategic policy development, manage enforcement activity, and oversee the delivery of the Stroud District Community Safety Partnership priorities.Key Responsibilities· Developing data‑informed community safety plans and aligned cross‑council approaches.· Leading and line‑managing a team of Community Officers and an Engagement Officer.· Overseeing enforcement functions including FPNs, CPNs, PSPOs, and evidence‑based environmental protection actions.· Facilitating engagement with residents, community groups and elected members to identify local concerns and co‑design solutions.· Managing budgets, grants, CCTV contracts, and community‑based prevention projects.· Supporting emergency planning and contributing proactively to the wider Community Services management team.About youWe’re looking for someone who brings excellent communication, strong leadership, and a passion for improving community safety outcomes. You’ll have solid experience working within community safety, confidence in partnership and multi‑agency environments, and the ability to analyse data and present evidence to support decision‑making.You will also bring:Experience of leading teams and managing performance.Knowledge of the Crime and Disorder Act and updated Serious Violence Duty.Experience in environmental protection investigations and enforcement.The ability to negotiate, influence, and work effectively in a political environment.A proactive, empathetic, community‑focused approach.
