We are looking for a dynamic, motivated and forward‑thinking Registered Nurse to support patients living with Parkinson’s, their families and carers.
This Specialist Nurse will play a key role in delivering first‑rate care in the community setting as part of the Neuro‑Specialist Team and the wider multidisciplinary team (MDT), managing a Parkinson’s caseload.
Responsibilities
* Manage an active caseload of people with Parkinson’s disease, developing self‑management plans to optimise health and quality of life and reduce avoidable hospital admissions.
* Collaborate with patients, carers, GPs and hospital consultants to achieve optimal therapeutic benefit from medication and treatment regimes.
* Support the multidisciplinary team to provide specialist care and be an integral part of the Community Stroke and Neuro‑Rehabilitation Team and Neuro‑Specialist Team.
* Develop and deliver education and training for the MDT, other health and social care professionals and the public.
* Share expertise relevant to other long‑term neurological conditions with MDT members.
Qualifications
* NMC registration (Degree level).
* Independent prescribing qualification or willingness to pursue it.
* Leadership and management qualification.
* Relevant post‑registration courses to degree level.
* Teaching or assessing qualification.
* Other (e.g., MSC, counselling qualification) as relevant.
Experience
* Minimum 5 years post‑registration experience in a relevant specialist field.
* Successful service development and innovation experience.
* Experience delivering teaching/training.
* Evidence of cross‑boundary working and partnership with other agencies.
* Experience with neurological or end‑of‑life patients.
* Experience with audit, benchmarking and line management.
Skills
* Excellent leadership, clinical assessment, communication and interpersonal skills.
* Expertise in self‑management strategies.
* Decision‑making, problem‑solving and advocacy skills.
* Ability to work in a flexible and resilient environment.
Knowledge
* Deep understanding of Parkinson’s disease and related guidance (e.g., NICE).
* Knowledge of CQC requirements.
* Competence in Microsoft Office tools.
Additional Requirements
* Full UK driving licence and access to a car.
* Willingness or experience with independent prescribing.
* Work in community settings.

Salary and Benefits
£49,387 to £56,515 per year + 5% HCAS per annum, pro rata. NHS terms and conditions, pension and flexible working options are offered.
