 
        
        Job Summary
We are seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist to lead the Pennine Community Eating Disorder teams (PCEDS) in two community hubs – the South Hub (Stockport, Tameside & Glossop) and the North Hub (Bury, Oldham & Rochdale). This full‑time (10 PA) vacancy is created through the retirement of the current Consultant. The successful candidate will provide specialist psychiatry input, clinical leadership and multi‑disciplinary care for young people aged up to 18 years with significant eating disorders.
Responsibilities
 * Lead emergency, urgent and routine assessment, treatment and care planning for young people with eating disorders.
 * Assume consultant clinical responsibility for individuals receiving psychiatry input, supporting consultation and liaison with allied professionals.
 * Maintain appropriate clinical records and uphold confidentiality and data protection standards.
 * Provide strong clinical leadership and supervision to the CEDS multidisciplinary team.
 * Participate in reviews, Clinical Practice Assessment (CPA), referrals, step‑down and discharge planning.
 * Engage and liaise effectively with paediatrics, physical health teams, social care, education and other agencies.
 * Apply the Care Programme Approach, the Mental Health Act (1983), the Children Act and the Mental Capacity Act where needed.
 * Work collaboratively across departmental and organisational boundaries to coordinate care pathways.
 * Provide clinical supervision to the MDT and offer consultancy to referring professionals.
 * Lead on evidence‑based practice, practice development and teaching within adolescent psychiatry.
 * Participate in clinical audit, governance meetings and quality improvement initiatives.
 * Join the Trust child & adolescent psychiatrist on‑call rota (CAMHS CCT or Adult Psychiatry CCT) and contribute to the broader adult services on‑call arrangements.
Person Specification – Education & Qualifications
 * Full GMC registration.
 * Section 12 approval under the Mental Health Act 1983.
 * Approved Clinician status.
 * Desirable: Published research MRCPsych; possession of a CCT in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry or Adult Psychiatry; other postgraduate degrees (MSc, MD, MRCP, etc.); experience of the Mental Health Act 1983.
Job Training and Experience
 * Demonstrable competency across the PMETB approved curriculum for Child & Adolescent Psychiatry or Adult Psychiatry.
 * Clinical experience or placement within a specialist eating disorders service.
 * Registered CPD with the RCPsych.
 * Desirable: Credentialed training in eating disorders; recognised experience in service leadership, audit activity, and teaching.

Salary and Contract
£109,725 to £145,478 per annum (pro‑rata) – Hospital medical and dental staff – Permanent – Full‑time.
