Overview
Mechanical & Commercial Heating Engineer role located in West London and West End. Salary £55k per annum plus travel and package. Contract: Full-time, Permanent. Reports To: Estates & Facilities Manager.
The role involves operating, maintaining, and repairing heating and mechanical systems critical to hospital operations and patient care from the plant room.
Responsibilities
* Operate, maintain, and repair commercial heating, ventilation, and hot water systems within the hospital plant room.
* Carry out routine servicing, fault diagnosis, and planned preventative maintenance on steam systems, pumps, pressurisation units, and related mechanical equipment.
* Respond promptly to reactive maintenance requests and breakdowns to minimise disruption to hospital services.
* Ensure all works comply with statutory regulations, health and safety requirements, and hospital policies.
* Support energy efficiency initiatives and identify opportunities for performance improvements within the plant.
* Maintain accurate maintenance records, assist with audits, inspections, and compliance reporting.
* Collaborate with estates staff, contractors, and clinical teams to support safe hospital operation.
Qualifications
* Time-served apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Heating & Ventilation, or related discipline.
* Proven experience maintaining and repairing commercial heating systems, ideally within a healthcare or similar critical environment.
* Strong understanding of health & safety legislation, risk assessments, and safe systems of work.
* Good problem-solving skills; ability to work independently and under pressure.
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
