This is a rare opportunity to lead a function that’s already performing at the top of its game, and to shape the next stage of its development.**What you’ll be doing*** Leading a skilled team of engineers, technicians, cleaners, and apprentices to ensure our fleet is safe, reliable, and customer-ready* Managing the maintenance and presentation of 51 service buses and 4 training vehicles, including our growing EV fleet* Overseeing depot plant, workshop equipment, and building maintenance, ensuring statutory compliance and a proactive approach to health & safety* Managing daily operations including resource planning, stock control, procurement, and supplier relationships* Coaching, developing, and empowering team members, helping them grow their technical capability and career progression* Using data, performance insights, and engineering best practice to drive continuous improvement* Working closely with the Engineering Director and contributing to regional projects, fleet strategy, and long-term planning* Maintaining engineering quality in line with DVSA regulations and Stagecoach engineering standards**What we’re looking for*** Engineering experience in sectors such as bus, coach, HGV, rail, plant, or automotive* A strong people leader, whether already a manager or ready to step up into your first depot leadership role* A proactive, organised, and safety-first mindset* Experience with compliance, budgets, audits, and health & safety* A passion for reliability, operational excellence, and high presentation standards* Competitive pay, opportunities for overtime, and a generous pension scheme* 25 days holiday, free travel for you and a companion, and a wide range of retail & leisure discounts* Clear progression routes, many of our colleagues move into engineering leadership, depot management, or regional roles* A supportive, inclusive working environment where your wellbeing matters* The opportunity to lead in a depot recognised for engineering excellence, innovation, and EV growth**Our working environment**Stagecoach is proud to be an inclusive employer.
