Overview
The Community Payback Supervisor provides operational leadership within the Probation Service, supervising groups of offenders on community sentences and supporting them to complete unpaid work projects that benefit local communities. The role involves frequent weekend and occasional evening work, with appropriate pay adjustments.
Responsibilities
* Supervise and manage small teams carrying out community work (e.g., construction, maintenance, litter removal).
* Ensure tasks are completed safely, efficiently and to required standards.
* Drive service vehicles to transport offenders or equipment as needed.
* Encourage and motivate offenders, demonstrating good practice and supporting their rehabilitation.
* Maintain accurate records of work hours and progress.
* Report to senior staff on outcomes, incidents and any support needs.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Full UK Manual Driving Licence (automatic licence not acceptable).
* Previous policing, security or probation experience preferred.
* Strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills.
* Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and evenings.
* Commitment to health, safety and wellbeing of staff and offenders.
Working Pattern
Standard full‑time hours: 37 hours per week (excluding unpaid breaks). The role typically requires weekends; a 50% higher rate applies for weekend days worked. Flexible arrangements may be available to accommodate caring responsibilities.
