Trainee Teaching Assistant Newport
Start date: September 2025 (with trial days available before the summer holidays)

This role is ideal for individuals keen to gain hands-on experience in alternative provision settings, working closely with children who face challenges related to social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH), ADHD, and anxiety.
Your Role
* Supporting pupils in both group and one-to-one settings, with a strong focus on emotional regulation and positive behaviour
* Creating a warm and inclusive learning environment where every child feels valued, safe, and encouraged to thrive
* Gaining practical experience supporting learners with additional needs including SEMH, ADHD, and anxiety-related difficulties
* Assisting in the implementation of strategies that promote personal growth and academic progress
* Building positive, consistent relationships with pupils, colleagues, and families
* Encouraging emotional literacy, communication, and social development
What We re Looking For
* A genuine passion for helping children with additional learning or behavioural needs
* Empathy, patience, and the ability to build trust with young people
* A positive and proactive approach, with a commitment to supporting pupils individual journeys
* Strong communication skills and a caring, professional attitude
* A clear interest in pursuing a long-term career in SEND or alternative education
* Availability Monday to Friday, 8.30 am to 3.30 pm
* Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC), or willingness to register we ll support you through the process
