Overview

Royal Voluntary Service is seeking a part-time Service Coordinator for West Sussex Good Neighbours. This is a fixed-term contract until 30 June 2026. Salary: £13.19 per hour (FTE £24,023 per annum).

Location: Home based with travel across the West Sussex area, primarily around the Chichester and Arun areas. A full valid driving licence and access to a vehicle with business-use insurance are required. Business mileage is reimbursed as expenses. Hours: 21 hours per week, typically Wednesday to Friday.


Role Summary

Join the Royal Voluntary Service to coordinate, deliver and promote the Good Neighbour’s Service, including recruitment and support of volunteers, and promotion of the service both in person and online. The role works predominantly in the community and may involve home visits and working across multiple districts within West Sussex.


Responsibilities

* Coordinate, deliver and promote the Good Neighbour’s Service as agreed with the Service Manager, including recruitment and support of volunteers in the community, networking and promotion in person and online.
* Conduct client needs assessments (face-to-face) to support individual client requirements.
* Assist with compilation of commissioned service reports, case studies and quarterly service overview summaries.
* Promote the service to recruit volunteers and clients by attending in-person and online events; collaborate with partner agencies.
* Work directly with older people (phone and in-home) to develop and oversee personalised support plans, reviewing and adjusting as required.
* Monitor and support a team of Royal Voluntary Service volunteers within an allocated geographical area; deliver volunteer training remotely and in person.
* Record promotions and partner activity on appropriate RVS databases in line with GDPR guidance; attend local area meetings as required.
* Ensure customer service and volunteer management standards are met; comply with health and safety, data protection and safeguarding training.
* Undertake additional duties as agreed with the Service Manager.


Requirements

* A full, valid driving licence and access to your own vehicle with business-use insurance.
* Willingness to undertake training and continuing professional development.
* Ability to proficiently use industry-standard IT systems (e.g., Microsoft Office, Email, Internet) and case management systems.
* Agree to undertake, and pass, an enhanced DBS with barred adults check.


Skills

* Ability to provide appropriate support and supervision to volunteers; make person-centred decisions within service guidelines.
* Excellent communication skills across client interactions, presentations, training and report writing.
* Ability to work alone and as part of a local team and broader network; make appropriate decisions.
* Strong time management, prioritisation and adaptability to meet deadlines.
* Establish positive working relationships with volunteers, clients, stakeholders and staff.


Experience

* Knowledge of local services and issues affecting older people.
* Experience recording data, monitoring and evaluation; maintaining databases.
* Experience working with volunteers or volunteer-led groups.


Knowledge

* Knowledge of GDPR, safeguarding adults, professional boundaries and confidentiality.
* Understanding of health and safety legislation and wellbeing of clients, volunteers and staff.
