Food Hygiene Supervisor
PrepWorld is looking for a Food Hygiene Supervisor to lead a team covering hygiene operations across all production areas. The role focuses on maintaining high food safety and hygiene standards, managing cleaning schedules, training staff, and ensuring compliance with quality and safety systems.
Responsibilities
* Ensure a safe working environment for employees in the department.
* Embed highest food safety & hygiene standards across the team.
* Plan, organise and monitor team performance to exceed expectations.
* Maintain excellent communication to ensure hygiene plans are adhered.
* Support the engineering function with preventative maintenance and cleaning; support production during line start‑up post‑deep cleaning.
* Ensure work conforms to Hygiene Management System, QMS and Safety Management System.
* Implement and improve quality, safety, hygiene & environmental standards.
* Maintain housekeeping and hygiene standards to minimise product contamination.
* Stay informed on food industry cleaning chemicals, usage, mixing strengths and precautions.
* Design, implement and record hygiene procedures, supervise the hygiene team, implement cleaning schedules.
* Participate in and execute hygiene related risk assessments.
* Design, implement and manage hygiene related SOPs.
* Build strong working relationships to drive continuous improvement of site standards.
* Ensure scheduled cleans are completed, monitored and communicated.
* Monitor cleaning effectiveness with labour costs for continuous improvements.
* Work within set budgets.
* Communicate company hygiene standards across shifts and teams.
* Complete hygiene control sheets/schedules.
* Train new staff.
* Carry out reasonable ad‑hoc tasks as requested.
* Monitor Hygiene Operatives during tasks.
* Control site PPE inventory and issuance.
* Liaise with Purchasing on inventory & deliveries of chemicals and PPE.
* Handle manual tasks, withstand cold storage conditions and work near forklifts/moving machinery.
* Supervise the Hygiene team and deputise when the Hygiene Manager is absent.
Qualifications & Experience
* Prior experience in a food manufacturing environment.
* Experience supervising staff.
* Excellent interpersonal & communication skills; ability to engage and motivate staff.
* Ability to work under pressure & meet deadlines while maintaining positive attitude.
* Strong attention to detail.
* Knowledge of BRC hygiene regulations and practices.
* Proactive approach to food safety.
* Good knowledge of cleaning chemicals and COSHH.
* Positive approach to work, flexible & initiative‑driven.
* Team player focused on departmental goals.
* Computer literate.

Pay & Hours
Pay: £15.88 – £17.62 per hour, depending on experience.
Days & hours: Wednesday – Saturday, 18:00 – 06:30.
