Job Description

This is a fixed-term position until 27/3/2026.

West Dunbartonshire Council seeks enthusiastic and committed candidates dedicated to sustaining school improvement and providing high-quality learning and teaching. The role aligns with key Council priorities of inclusion and aims to raise the aspirations, achievements, and attainment of all students.

Requirements

For Vacancies at Denominational Schools:

Evidence of Catholic Church Approval: Applicants must seek Catholic Church approval when submitting their application. A copy of the approval should be provided to the Chair of the Panel before the interview. If approval is pending, confirmation from the Church Representative that the application has been submitted is required.

Denominational Primary Posts: Applicants must have the Catholic Teaching Certificate or Catholic Religious Education Certificate. Forms and further information are available on the Scottish Catholic Education Service (SCES) website: https://sces.org.uk/church-approval/

Responsibilities

This role is considered a regulated role with children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2020. Membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Further details can be found here. Preferred applicants will need to join or update their PVG scheme membership prior to a formal offer.

The employment is excepted from section 4(2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders (Exceptions) Order 1975. Applicants must disclose all convictions, including spent ones, as failure to do so could lead to dismissal or disciplinary action.
