Role Purpose
Lincolnshire County Council is seeking an experienced Commercial Lawyer to join their Legal Services team on a temporary basis. This role is essential in supporting the council’s statutory and commercial obligations, working across a diverse range of contracts and procurement matters.
You will become an integral part of a small team delivering legal services to the Local Authority, partner District Councils, and the newly created Greater Lincolnshire Combined County Authority.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide legal advice and support on services contracts, IT contracts, framework agreements, collaborative procurements, grant agreements, and subsidy control.
* Work closely with client departments to ensure compliance and effective delivery of commercial projects.
* Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contractual documents.
* Contribute to the smooth running of the Legal Services team, supporting colleagues and stakeholders.
* Ensure adherence to relevant legislation and local authority governance requirements.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
* Minimum of 3 years PQE in contracts and procurement work for a local authority.
* Strong knowledge of commercial law and public sector procurement.
* Proven ability to manage a varied caseload independently.
Desirable:
* Experience working with combined authorities or district councils.
* Familiarity with subsidy control and grant agreements.
Skills
* Excellent drafting and negotiation skills.
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Ability to work effectively in a remote environment.
* Collaborative approach to working with colleagues and stakeholders.
Working Conditions
Remote role with occasional office attendance required.
Part-time hours (22.5–25 per week).
Initially a 3-month contract with strong potential for extension.
