Overall job purpose
You will be a key member of the growing financial reporting advisory national team, focusing on clients within the central belt of Scotland. As an assistant manager, you will support the team and assist managers in delivering work across a portfolio of corporate clients, emphasizing technical accounting, financial reporting, and consolidations. Responsibilities include applying accounting standards under FRS102, IFRS, and FRS 101, group reconstructions, conversion to different GAAPs, technical accounting papers, and acquisition accounting support. You will also prepare and manage statutory accounts under IFRS and FRS 101.
The department's rapid growth offers opportunities to develop skills in business development and coaching junior staff. You'll work with colleagues and businesses across the UK and support your local office. A strong understanding of UK GAAP and IFRS is essential, along with good report writing skills for financial reporting projects.
Responsibilities
* Supporting managers in delivering complex accountancy projects, such as IFRS transition or acquisition accounting support.
* Maintaining advanced technical knowledge through reading and courses, fulfilling CPD requirements, and staying updated on firm publications and services.
* Acting as a primary contact with clients, communicating issues, and suggesting solutions.
* Managing a portfolio of clients and projects, including client care, project management, and billing.
* Collaborating with other departments like audit and tax to meet deadlines and resolve issues.
* Coaching junior team members and participating in staff training and supervision; line management depending on experience.
* Willingness to travel to client sites; most work is office-based.
Personal and professional qualities
The role requires:
* ICAS or equivalent qualification.
* Experience in UK GAAP and IFRS financial reporting.
* Experience in professional practice or providing written accounting advice.
* Strong understanding of UK financial reporting requirements.
* Commercial awareness and value addition.
* Project management and organizational skills.
* Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
* Client interaction experience.
* Supervision experience of junior staff.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
