The Role: Key Responsibilities
As a Transport Operator, you will play a key role in the smooth running of daily transport operations. Your duties will include:
* Coordinating day-to-day vehicle and driver activity across a busy transport network
* Assigning jobs, planning driver workloads and supporting efficient route execution
* Monitoring vehicle progress throughout the shift and addressing issues proactively
* Liaising with drivers, depots, customers and third-party partners to maintain service standards
* Ensuring compliance with driver hours, transport legislation and company policies
* Maintaining accurate records, completing system updates, and supporting reporting tasks
* Working closely with the wider operations team to minimise delays and maximise fleet utilisation
About You
We’re keen to speak with candidates who can demonstrate:
* Experience in a transport office, logistics coordination or a similar operational role
* Strong communication skills and confidence when dealing with drivers and customers
* Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise under pressure
* Good IT skills, including the use of transport systems and Microsoft Office
* A positive, flexible approach to problem-solving in a fast-moving environment
* Good geographical knowledge and an understanding of commercial transport operations
Experience within container logistics, general haulage or intermodal operations is highly desirable but not essential.
