This position can be based out of our offices in Portsmouth, NH; Manchester, NH; Burlington, VT; or Chelmsford, MA. It offers a hybrid remote work opportunity. The ideal candidate will contribute to a team delivering state agency and municipal roadway, traffic, drainage, and safety designs. Responsibilities include preparing calculations, layouts, estimates, and specifications under the guidance of senior engineers and project managers. The candidate will also lead and mentor junior engineers and CADD teammates.
As a Project Engineer, you will:
1. Play a key role in an integrated, multi-discipline team addressing technical challenges on complex projects.
2. Complete assignments accurately and timely with minimal supervision.
3. Understand project budgets, scope of services, development, schedules, and provide updates and recommendations to the Project Manager.
4. Foster understanding of the client’s organization, key contacts, and expectations.
5. Share best practices to enhance team performance and efficiency.
6. Develop person-hour estimates and budgets with guidance from senior staff.
7. Lead small teams on moderately complex projects.
8. Assist in proposal development and efforts.
9. Provide coaching, mentoring, and feedback to develop entry-level and staff engineers, peers, and others.
10. Conduct site visits and participate in or lead meetings with clients and contractors.
11. Demonstrate strong technical writing and presentation skills for deliverables, proposals, and public presentations at seminars or conferences.
Requirements include:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE); a Master’s (MSCE) is preferred.
2. 5-10 years of relevant experience.
3. Current PE license in NH, MA, ME, or VT.
4. Experience with MaineDOT, NHDOT, VTrans, or MassDOT highway projects.
5. Proficiency in Microstation, AutoCAD, HydroCAD, Civil 3D, ArcView, In Roads, Word, Excel, and MS Project.
