Temporary Packer Roles - DEFRA (AO Grade)
Location: Lancaster House, Hampshire Court, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE4 7YH
Contract Type: Temporary (7 Weeks)
Start Date: Targeting 30th June 2025
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm
Pay Rate: £12.98 per hour, paid weekly
The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) is seeking two Temporary Packers to support a short-term assignment based at Lancaster House in Newcastle.
Role Overview:
These office-based roles will run for approximately 7 weeks. The successful candidates will assist with preparing and packing paper files for shipment. Duties will include:
* Preparing files for shipment
* Logging bar codes accurately into the system
* Packing files securely into containers
* Labelling each file with required information (employee name/number, file reference, date of birth)
* Ensuring file contents remain confidential and unopened
The role may involve repetitive tasks and require physical stamina.
Key Skills Required:
* Strong organisational skills for neat and secure file preparation
* Basic IT skills for accurate data entry and logging
* Ability to work at pace and meet tight deadlines
* Maintaining a clean and orderly work space
* Following safety protocols when handling materials
Requirements:
* Valid right to work in the UK
* Photo ID
* References covering the last 3 years
