As our business looks to deliver its ambitious strategy of growth, we are looking for a SHE Coordinator/ Lead SHE Coordinator to join our team at Leek. This role could be either a SHE Coordinator or a Lead SHE Coordinator for the right candidate, dependent on skills and experience. We’re looking for someone who can grow into a leadership role and will provide the exposure, challenges, and support necessary to facilitate this.
In this role, you will be responsible for providing technical SHE leadership to support the site’s operations, research, laboratory and maintenance functions, as well as coordinate the safe and efficient operations on site in accordance to the SHE management systems and regulatory requirements. This will include ensuring compliance to internal and external SHE standards, regulations and legislation, monitoring and identifying opportunities to make improvements to SHE performance on site and communicating with all employees as appropriate regarding safety matters. You will also maintain a full range of risk control programmes and procedures to minimise risk and manage foreseeable emergencies.

2. You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Be capable of explaining technical information in a simple and impactful manner, as well as being an effective relationship builder.
3. You will have the ability to influence, effectively work with and lead cross-functional/ multidisciplinary teams, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
4. You will have a detailed understanding of SHE regulations associated with a chemical site. You will have practical experience of developing and implementing a wide range of suitable control strategies.
5. You will be a capable incident investigator having the ability to go beyond solving immediate causes, to identify and tackle fundamental system and cultural causes of SHE failings.
6. You will have experience of manufacturing environments.
7. You will be an effective trainer. Capable of developing and delivering high quality, engaging SHE training both to employees and contractors.
8. Experience within the chemical industry is desirable but not essential.
9. Experience of maintaining ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 compliant management systems is desirable but not essential.
What You’ll Be Doing:

10. Support the SHE Manager in the development and maintenance of the SHE management systems.
11. Preparing various types of risk assessments, general, COSHH, PUWER, etc. and supporting the completion of actions from these assessments.
12. Take a lead role in incident investigations.
13. Participate in the site SHE committee and Human Performance Learning Groups.
14. Support activities associated with improving SHE practice and performance within the site.
