PROPERTY SURVEYOR – JOIN A TEAM SHAPING THE FUTURE OF MEASUREMENT
Plowman Craven’s Property team continues to grow, and we are looking for a Senior Surveyor to play a key role in delivering high-quality survey work across a wide range of property and built environment projects.
This role is well suited to either an experienced Surveyor ready to take the next step, or an established Senior Surveyor looking to develop their career in a modern, forward-thinking business. You will work on technically varied projects, take greater ownership of delivery, and support the development of others within the team.
More about the opportunity:
As a Senior Surveyor, you will be trusted to plan and deliver survey work across all stages of the “RIBA Plan of Work”. You will combine hands-on site work with technical oversight, quality assurance and coordination with project teams.
You will be part of a collaborative and supportive environment where innovation, accuracy and professional development are valued. This is a role that offers progression, responsibility and the chance to build a long-term career within a growing organisation.
What does your day-to-day look like?
1. Delivering complex survey projects from planning through to final issue
2. Selecting appropriate survey methodologies and equipment to suit each site
3. Carrying out and overseeing site surveys including laser scanning, GNSS and control networks
4. Processing, analysing and validating survey data to produce accurate CAD drawings, point clouds and reports
5. Reviewing and signing off survey deliverables before issue to the wider delivery team
6. Identifying site constraints, risks and access issues, and proposing practical survey solutions
7. Working closely with Project Managers and Lead Surveyors to clarify briefs and manage expectations
8. Supporting project planning, programming and resource allocation
9. Providing guidance and mentoring to Surveyors and Junior Surveyors
10. Contributing to the development of survey standards, workflows and best practice
11. Representing Plowman Craven professionally on site and in client interactions
What do you actually get?
12. The stability and long-term outlook of a partially employee-owned business
13. A supportive, collaborative team environment
14. Investment in training, development and leadership capability
15. Opportunities to progress as the business continues to grow
16. Competitive salary with performance-related bonus
17. Generous annual leave allowance
18. Company laptop and mobile phone
19. Hybrid working, with access to Harpenden and London offices
20. A wellbeing and social events programme
What you bring to the party:
This role is aimed at survey professionals who want more responsibility, broader exposure and a clear progression path.
What we are looking for:
21. Solid experience in measured building, topographical and laser scanning surveys
22. Confidence working independently on site and taking ownership of survey delivery
23. Strong technical capability using modern survey equipment and processing software
24. A structured, organised approach when working under time pressure
25. Good communication skills with clients, project teams and colleagues
26. An interest in developing others and sharing technical knowledge
27. A proactive mindset and interest in new technology and improved ways of working
28. Flexibility around travel and working hours
29. A full UK driving licence and the right to work in the UK
30. Experience with mobile mapping systems or advanced processing software is useful, but not essential. What matters most is your attitude, technical foundation and readiness to take the next step.
