Position: General Assistant / Quad Scout Location: Oxford Salary: £13.16 per hour Our client is a prestigious college in Oxford are seeking a General Assistant / Quad Scout on a temporary to permanent basis. Working hours are Monday to Friday (with some weekends) 35 hours per week. Ideally you will have a full UK Driving licence The Role: As a General Assistant, you will work within the Facilities Department dealing with students, staff, visitors, and contractors to ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of college facilities. Main Responsibilities: * Provide a professional, friendly, and helpful front-of-house service. * Assist fellows, students, staff, visitors, and contractors with queries or tasks, both in person, by email, and on the phone. * Receive and check deliveries, ensuring the correct items have been delivered and are not damaged. Record and distribute deliveries. * Maintain stock control and booking-in/out records. * Assist with waste removal and recycling. * Assist with laundry collection and delivery. * Actively seek to improve the working environment and report any issues, ideas, or areas for improvement. * Ensure the college quads and pathways are presentable, clean, and tidy; clear of rubbish, leaves, and litter. * Ensure that equipment and materials are used responsibly and in compliance with College risk assessments and COSHH regulations. * Carry out regular checks and inspections, under the direction of the Stores Controller or Accommodation Manager. * Change lightbulbs and carry out minor repairs to college fixtures and fittings. * Conduct PAT testing of electrical items. * Assemble and move furniture or equipment. * Report broken, damaged, or worn-out College fixtures and fittings. * Maintain the student storage facilities during term time (at the start and end of same). * Attend training courses in relevant areas as and when requested. * Support the college's sustainability objectives. * Carry out regular safety checks and inspections relating to compliance. * Operate in line with the college's policies and procedures. * Ensure college signage stands are clean and well maintained and that signage is up to date and accurate. * Attend any meetings relevant to the role and to aid communication. * Set up temporary equipment (i.e., gazebos and outdoor furniture). * Support the college AV technicians with the provision of AV equipment. * Provide cover for all other duties in the absence of the Stores Controller. About You: Applicants should have excellent interpersonal skills, and experience working in a facilities or customer service role. You will need to be proficient in basic maintenance tasks and demonstrate a proactive approach to problem-solving. Required: * Previous experience in a facilities or maintenance role. * Strong organisational skills and attention to detail. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team. * Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
