Pro4orm People Ltd has partnered with a leading pharmaceutical company in the search of a Business Head – UK.
The Business Head – UK leads the commercial strategy and execution for the company’s UK portfolio across generic prescription medicines, branded generics, OTC products, and pharmacy/hospital trading channels.
Leading and managing a team, this role is responsible for revenue & profit growth, channel‑specific strategies, and cross‑functional alignment. It requires a strong understanding of the UK NHS structure, retail pharmacy ecosystem, supply chain networks, MHRA requirements, and competitive dynamics across multiple product categories.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop differentiated sales strategies for hospital, pharmacy, OTC, and branded generic segments.
* Analyse market trends, competitor activity, tariff shifts, OTC category opportunities, and demand fluctuations across all channels.
* Manage relationships with NHS procurement teams, Integrated Care Boards (ICBs), hospital pharmacy teams, and framework providers.
* Develop relationships with major pharmacy multiples, symbol groups, buying groups, and independents.
* Negotiate pricing, service levels, and stock availability agreements.
* Partner with Supply Chain and Operations to ensure continuity of supply—critical in the UK’s highly competitive, price‑sensitive generics market.
* Monitor and respond to UK‑specific market triggers (shortages, Category M price shifts, concession pricing).
* Support product launches in line with MHRA timelines and market access requirements.
* Ensure all sales activities comply with MHRA advertising & promotion rules, ABPI Code of Practice, and NHS procurement guidelines.
* Negotiating and managing contracts with existing CMO customers, Identify and pursue new CMO opportunities for UK, Europe & ROW markets.
* Lead UK pricing strategy for generics, cost of goods, and drug tariff fluctuations.
* Manage commercial budgets, promotional spend, and profitability at national and account levels.
Qualifications and Experience
* Bachelor’s degree in Business, Science, Pharmacy, or related field.
* 15+ years’ experience in generic pharmaceuticals.
* Experience in multiple UK channels: hospital, pharmacy, OTC retail, and/or branded generics.
* Strong strategic thinking with the ability to tailor approaches per channel.
* Excellent leadership, coaching, and communication skills.
* Knowledge of UK regulatory and promotional codes (MHRA, ABPI, PAGB).
* Results‑driven with a strong customer focus.
