As our Engineering Manager, you’ll take the lead across all engineering, maintenance, utilities, and capital projects across both of our sites. Your work will involve a mix of hands‑on involvement and effective delegation, ensuring everything runs smoothly and efficiently. You’ll also be responsible for managing the site’s HSE programme, making sure we stay fully compliant with all relevant UK regulatory bodies, such as the Food Standards Agency (FSA), the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), and the Environment Agency (or SEPA/NRW, depending on the site). In this position, you’ll work closely with the General Manager on site in development and CAPEX projects, all while driving maximum asset reliability, improving operational efficiency, and maintaining full compliance with UK food safety, environmental, and statutory requirements. Beyond the technical responsibilities, you’ll play a key role as a mentor and coach for your team, providing leadership, guidance, and support across all activities, and delivering a strong, reliable service to every department. Efficiently manage and provide support and direction to the team of technicians on any technical matters. Improve service delivery performance and reduce operating costs where possible Monitor and report on KPI’s for the maintenance department Undertake engineer audits for machinery where necessary Deliver Tool Box Talks. Manage all aspects of engineering in relation to all works, from planning to completion Developing practices, routines and solutions to help improve productivity and product quality Perform risk assessment in relation to site operations Take ownership of the site maintenance reporting system and the associated delegation of tasks Develop new health and safety policy procedures in line with existing rules and regulations Support and conduct in-house training sessions to teach employees about best practice and safe systems of work Active involvement in continuous improvements as needed and guided by the General Manager. Make sure food hygiene and food safety standards are upheld at all times. Keep records up to date for all responsible items Any other tasks as requested by the General Manager Be available on call should the technical need arise on site. Does this sound like you? Team player and great communication skills Ability to identify and resolve issues using structured root cause analysis methodologies, driving effective and sustainable corrective actions Well organised and methodical with the ability to prioritise and multitask Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent experience). Minimum 5–7 years’ experience in food or FMCG manufacturing. Demonstrated leadership experience in an engineering management role. Strong knowledge of UK food safety legislation and HSE requirements. Experience managing contractors under CDM regulations. Working knowledge of CMMS systems. NEBOSH General Certificate (or higher). IOSH Managing Safely qualification Interested?
