Job Overview: We are seeking an experienced Interim Management / Financial Accountant to lead financial accounting and reporting activities for one of our key business units. This role will play a critical part in maintaining robust financial control while supporting a system migration from Hansa ERP to Sage. The successful candidate will combine strong technical accounting expertise with proven business partnering capability and experience within project-based environments. The role will include line management responsibility for a team of two, ensuring invoicing processes are efficient and effective. You will take ownership of the month-end process, producing accurate and timely management accounts, and maintaining full responsibility for the P&L and balance sheet. In addition, you will proactively identify opportunities to enhance financial reporting, improve insight, and support better decision-making across the business. Key Responsibilities: Carry out data cleansing activities to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data ahead of ERP migration Ensure continuity of financial data during system transition Lead all financial accounting and reporting activities for the Sprint business unit Manage month-end close, including journals, accruals, and reconciliations Produce accurate and timely management accounts and financial reports Provide variance analysis and insightful commentary on financial performance Assist operational stakeholders, to support key decision-making Contribute to process improvements and strengthen financial controls Support project accounting activities, including cost tracking and reporting Manage a team of two ensuring accuracy and efficiency in invoicing processes Experience Required: Strong technical accounting background (essential) Fully or part-qualified accountant (e.g. ACCA, CIMA, ACA) Proven experience in financial accounting and reporting roles Experience in project accounting environments Demonstrated ability to manage month-end processes independently Experience with ERP systems; exposure to Hansa ERP and/or Sage Intacct desirable Experience supporting or delivering system implementations or migrations Strong Excel and financial systems skills Excellent communication skills with ability to engage stakeholders Ability to work independently and deliver in a fast-paced, interim environment Comfortable with occasional travel to other Airedale offices The Airedale Group is expanding rapidly, employing circa 700 people across multiple locations in the UK.
