This post is for a consultant in Dermatology. It is a part‑time (7 PA) post offering an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Medic to join a dynamic, rapidly expanding team delivering multidisciplinary acute care in Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals.
Applicants are required to hold membership of the Royal College of Physicians (UK or equivalent qualifications), to be fully registered with the General Medical Council, and to be on the Specialist Register or due to obtain their CCT within six months of the date of interview.
On Call Commitments
Currently this post does not have any on call commitments.
Interviews for this position will be held on Monday 17th August 2026.
Main duties of the job The post holder will provide ward consultations for inpatients as required, participate in the management structure of the Medical Division, and deliver outpatient dermatology services. A specialist interest in dermatology is welcomed.

Proposed job plan
3 outpatient clinics per week (two general dermatology, one skin cancer plus minor surgery session)
0.5 session for ward referrals
Allocated sessions for direct patient administration
Time allocated for Advice & Guidance (0.25)
1 session for continuing professional development – Grand Round (Broadgreen Hospital)
1.5 sessions for teaching, audit, research, clinical management and non‑clinical duties
Clinic templates follow guidelines from the British Association of Dermatologists. A typical clinic contains 4 new patients and 8 follow‑up patients. There is no on‑call commitment.
Person Specification Qualifications
Full GMC registration and on the Specialist Register or within six months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at the time of interview.
UK‑trained applicants must be holders of a CCT or within six months of award. Non‑UK‑trained applicants must provide evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT.
MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
MRCP or equivalent medical qualification.
MD/PHD or equivalent medical qualification.
Knowledge and Experience
Evidence of achievement of competencies by the time of appointment in line with DMC standards/Good Medical Practice, including good clinical care, maintaining good medical practice, good relationships and communication with patients, good working relationships with colleagues, good teaching and training, professional behaviour and probity, and delivery of good acute clinical practice.
Clinical training and experience to manage, supervise, and offer expert clinical opinion on patients presenting to the Dermatology Department.
Experience supervising doctors and practitioners and the ability to teach clinical and practical skills.
Evidence of appropriate teaching experience.
Demonstrated ability to undertake robust audit within team structure.
Evidence of feedback or peer review on these skills.
Evidence of formally supervising medical students, F1, F2, ACCS and specialist trainees.
Evidence of relevant research, e.g. presentations, publications in peer‑reviewed journals.
Ability to apply outcomes to clinical problems.

Is up to date and fit to practice safely.
