About the Role
We're seeking a mechanically biased Field Engineer to join this historic project – a professional who thrives in a regulated, high-performance environment and is passionate about technical excellence, compliance, and quality assurance.
Responsibilities
* Conduct field surveillance on mechanical installations – pipework, pumps, valves, tanks, heat exchangers, turbines, and HVAC systems.
* Verify adherence to specifications and approved processes across a wide range of mechanical systems.
* Perform alignment checks, torque control, and joint integrity inspections.
* Support QA/QC activities, punchlist reviews, and documentation management.
* Complete reports and distribute findings to Construction and Quality teams.
* Participate in meetings with contractors, confidently communicate technical findings, and challenge when required.
* Conduct documentation checks against project specifications (BTS, BST, ISO9001, GQAS).
* Maintain accurate and traceable records of all site surveillance activities.
Ideal Candidate Profile
* A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a mechanical or field engineering role.
* Understanding of mechanical systems installation and commissioning – including pipework, rotating equipment, pressure systems, and HVAC.
* Awareness of site processes such as NCRs, ITPs, QA/QC procedures, and punchlist closeout.
* Confident communication and interpersonal skills – able to liaise effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Teams, and Excel.
* A collaborative approach, able to work seamlessly within construction, quality, and surveillance teams.
* Formal qualifications (e.g. HND, HNC, or equivalent) are advantageous but not essential – practical experience, sound engineering judgement, and a strong safety mindset are key.
