Our client, a rapidly expanding and highly respected organisation, is seeking a strong Part-Qualified Accountant to join their growing finance team. In this pivotal role, you’ll be key in strengthening financial resilience, governance, and oversight. As Senior Finance Officer, you will manage a portfolio of client accounts, ensure accuracy and compliance, while also provide hands-on guidance and support. You’ll line-manage one Finance Officer, making this an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build or further develop their leadership skills.
We’re looking for a driven and ambitious individual who is part-qualified (ACCA/ACA/CIMA/AAT Level 4+) and progressing well with their professional exams. You’ll need a strong technical grounding across bookkeeping, accounts preparation, monthly management accounts, budgeting, and year-end processes. This is a role for someone who thrives on responsibility, enjoys client interaction, and wants to grow within a supportive, forward-thinking environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage a portfolio of client accounts, ensuring accurate and timely reporting
Process purchase and sales ledger transactions
Prepare journal entries, cash, and accrual accounting
Bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations
Prepare monthly management accounts for small companies
Monitor income and expenditure, producing insightful reports
Cashflow forecasting and budget preparation
Assist with year-end processes and statutory requirements
Prepare and submit VAT returns
Provide financial guidance and advice to members
Support and mentor a Finance Officer, delegating tasks effectively
Person Specification:
Part-qualified Accountant (ACCA/ACA/CIMA/AAT Level 4+) with ongoing study
Strong technical skills in management accounts, budgeting, and year-end prep
Hands-on experience with Xero and QuickBooks (essential)
Previous supervisory or management experience highly advantageous
Confident in advising clients and managing multiple accounts
Excellent organisational and time-management skills
Strong relationship-building and communication skills
Flexible and proactive, with a willingness to take on new responsibility as the organisation grows
Prior experience preparing accounts for small businesses is highly desirable
Leisure industry experience would be an advantage
