Job Title: Director, Africa Agriculture and Trade Investment Fund (AATIF)
Fund: Africa Agriculture and Trade Investment Fund (AATIF)
Main Purpose:
The Director will join the Fund Team at Cygnum Capital, advising AATIF. The role reports directly to the Fund Lead of AATIF and aims to foster growth in the asset management activities of Cygnum Capital Group.
The role requires alignment with the Firm’s senior management on business objectives and a collaborative approach with team members.
Responsibilities include:
1. Asset Management:
o Identify and establish relationships with investment companies in East and Southern Africa for AATIF investments.
o Manage existing portfolio positions and conduct periodic reviews.
o Perform credit and financial analysis of companies and sectors.
o Handle deal pipeline activities, including screening, due diligence, and investment execution.
o Liaise with third parties involved in transactions.
o Coordinate with Fund Ops Team for data capture and reporting.
o Contribute to monitoring reports and financial statements.
o Assist in marketing and fundraising efforts.
o Support team initiatives to improve efficiency and communication.
2. Deal Execution:
o Perform due diligence, structuring, approval processes, and closing of investments.
o Manage interactions with external advisors.
3. Business Development:
o Support AATIF’s growth in East and Southern Africa.
o Develop marketing materials and engage with other fund teams.
o Promote the Firm’s capabilities and network externally.
4. Human Capital Management:
o Foster team spirit and good morale.
o Maintain effective internal communication.
o Balance work responsibilities with well-being.
5. Conduct Rules and Compliance:
o Act with integrity, skill, and fairness as per FCA standards.
o Remain fit and proper for the role and report relevant events.
6. Candidate Profile:
o Strong expertise in agricultural finance, especially debt transactions in East and Southern Africa.
o Existing network among agribusinesses and financial institutions, particularly in French-speaking countries.
o Academic background in finance, economics, or related fields.
o 7+ years of relevant professional experience.
o Proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
o Ability to work independently and in teams, with flexibility to travel.
o Commitment to sustainable agriculture and rural development.
