About the Role
Southern Ecological Solutions (SES), a member of the RSK Group, is seeking a highly experienced Principal Consultant to lead ecological projects and grow the business.
Responsibilities
Provide high‑level strategic oversight of a diverse portfolio of projects, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
Lead complex ecological assessments and mitigation strategies.
Represent SES in the wider industry, sharing insights and contributing to best practices.
Ensure all projects comply with current legislation and best‑practice guidelines, upholding SES reputation through rigorous quality control.
Collaborate closely with other departments within SES and the RSK Group to deliver integrated solutions that meet client needs.
Lead and develop a team of ecologists, fostering excellence and professional growth.
Drive business growth by identifying new opportunities, securing contracts, and expanding the client base.
Qualifications
Hold a degree in ecology or a related field.
Substantial experience in professional ecological consultancy, including habitat management and protected species work.
Proven leadership experience managing teams, high‑profile projects, and business development within the ecological consultancy sector.
Deep knowledge of ecological principles, legislation, and survey techniques.
Strong understanding of the environmental and planning sectors with a track record of developing and executing strategic plans.
Expertise in protected species licensing and implementation of mitigation strategies.

Competitive salary: £45,000 – £55,000 based on experience and qualifications.
