Community Integrated Care is currently seeking a skilled Regional Positive Behavioural Support (PBS) Specialist Practitioner. Salary - up to £35,000 pa £3,000 Car Allowance With a flexible location covering Central England and Yorkshire, the PBS Specialist Practitioner will be the Regional Lead in the high quality Positive Behavioural Support and be key to monitoring the Increase of Quality of life for the people we support. Who you’ll be supporting & more about the role: Community Integrated Care supports individuals with a wide range of needs and in many cases, people whose needs and histories mean that individuals can reasonably be predicted to present with behaviours that challenge. The organisation’s current approach to significant behaviour is to use the least restrictive practices to support the individual through stressful episodes and as such the relevant colleagues are trained in the MAPA (Managing Actual and Potential Aggression) model of interventions (licensed through the Crisis Prevention Institute). However, the aspiration is to for the organisation to adopt the recovery model approaches of Active Support and Positive Behavioural Support which advocate a more proactive approach to prevention and reduction of behaviours that challenge and overall improvement to quality of life outcomes. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Shaping Positive Behavioural Support in services through coaching and mentoring Reinforcing the importance and implementations of Behaviour Support Plans Integrating other evidence-based interventions and approaches to meet the individual’s needs Liaising with other clinical specialists Undertaking functional assessments Working alongside teams to develop and evaluate intervention plans Providing advice and guidance to managers, advanced support workers, support workers and families. Keeping up-to-date with best practice through literature reviews, attendance at conferences and relevant forums Leading on the development and implementation of restrictive intervention reduction plans Identifying instances where more extensive PBS training would be beneficial Working with the multi-disciplinary team to ensure high standards of practice To provide bespoke PBS and Active support training to service. Given the nature of this role there will be a requirement to be flexible in working hours and travel on a regular basis. Your values: What essential skills and experience is needed for the role? Key Requirements Qualifications Essential level 5 Qualification relevant to PBS and willing to work to level 6/7. Experience Extensive experience of working with people with Learning Disabilities and/or Autism who display behaviours of concern. Experience of carrying out Behaviour assessments within a Positive Behaviour Support Framework Experience of reducing the use of restrictive practices; including restrictive interventions You will have experience working with multi-disciplinary teams Experience of delivering training, workshops and/or teaching adult learners Experience of leading individual/team de-briefs Skills / Abilities Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with internal and external agencies Ability to travel, primarily across the Region but occasionally further afield.
