The post of the Maintenance Craftsperson (Painter & Decorator) is to undertake unsupervised planned, corrective and breakdown maintenance work on building elements and fabric largely but not limited to Painting & Decorating nature at Diana Princess of Wales Hospital, Grimsby. The post is site-based but you may be required to work on other Trust sites as necessary.
The post holder must have a positive approach to a wide range of work of other trades outside their core trade skills, and be able to undertake work in a safe and effective manner, complying with all relevant safety legislation and Estates Engineering & Operational Maintenance Department safe working procedures on all works undertaken. Carrying out internal and external painting and decorating requirements in and around the Diana Princess of Wales Hospital.
Support the Operational Maintenance Team Manager and Estates Engineering Officers with the implementation of planned, reactive and routine maintenance. Complete data entry into paper and electronic systems (e.g. the completion of all job dockets, asset management details, time sheets and stock sheets).
The role requires the post holder to undertake and be part of the Estates Operational Maintenance out of hours On Call maintenance service, particularly during the winter months, assisting with snow clearing, de-icing work and duties.

Surface preparation: Preparing surfaces for painting, including cleaning, sanding, and filling holes or cracks.
Painting and finishing: Applying paint, or other finishes to walls, ceilings, windows, doors, and other surfaces.
Wall coverings: Installing wallpaper, vinyl coverings, or other decorative materials.
Specialist finishes: Applying advanced finishes like textures, special paints, or decorative effects.
General Maintenance and Repairs
Minor repairs: Fixing damaged surfaces (e.g., filling in holes, patching cracks) to prepare them for decoration.
Maintenance of decorative elements: Maintaining features like mouldings, cornices, and trims, which may require cleaning, restoration, or repainting. Surface Treatments and Application of Specialized Coatings
Protective coatings: Applying coatings to surfaces to protect against wear and tear, weathering, or other environmental factors.
Staining and varnishing: Staining or varnishing wooden surfaces, such as furniture or trim, to enhance their appearance and preserve them

Education & Qualifications
Essential criteria
1. Level 3 / CITB or City & Guilds Craft Certificate in Painting and or Decorating.
2. Relevant demonstrable experience relative to the requirements of the role and willing to work towards a formal level qualification
3. Level 2 English & Maths or effective standard of spoken English and use of mathematics.
4. Full Clean UK Driving License
5. Be able to demonstrate effective standard of written & spoken english and use of mathematics.
6. Computer Literate including being able to use software programmes like word, excel and outlook.
Desirable criteria

8. Operator certificate for woodworking machinery Safer working environment training.
