Outlier, a platform owned and operated by Scale AI, is seeking experienced English writers, editors, and AI content specialists to help train and refine AI models. If you’re passionate about improving language models and want to make a real impact, we want you on our team.
What You’ll Do
* Approach tasks with a “user mindset” to produce natural data that meets realistic AI needs.
* Evaluate AI outputs by reviewing and ranking responses from large language models.
* Contribute across projects based on your specific skill set and experience.
What We’re Looking For
* Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills capable of developing complex, professional-level prompts and evaluating nuanced AI reasoning.
* Clear, concise, and engaging writing to explain decisions or critique responses.
* Attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and the ability to assess technical aspects of model outputs.
Nice to Have
* Experience in literature, creative writing, history, philosophy, or theology.
* Prior writing or editorial experience (content strategist, technical writer, editor).
* Interest or background in AI, machine learning, or creative tech tools.
Pay & Logistics
* Base rate: Up to $15/hour USD, depending on experience.
* Bonuses: Additional pay available based on project performance.
* Contract: Freelance 1099 contract – not an internship.
* Location: 100% remote.
* Schedule: Flexible hours—you choose when and how much to work.
* Payouts: Weekly via our secure platform.
* You must be authorized to work in your country of residence. Immigration sponsorship is not available for this 1099 contract.
