The NHS Fife Pharmacy & Medicines Service serves a population of approximately 380,000 people and is delivered by an integrated team of around 300 Pharmacy staff, including Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, Support Workers, Nurses and Administrators. The team works across Acute and Community hospital sites, General Practices, Mental Health services and specialist teams, with partnership working at the core of our values to provide the highest quality care for everyone in Fife.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Pharmacy Technician to join our Hospital Pharmacy team. Applications are welcome from newly qualified pharmacy technicians or those who will be registered with the GPhC within the next three months. Full training will be provided, so hospital experience is not essential.
Responsibilities
* Work within the dispensary, aseptic unit, stores (including vaccines) and clinical areas.
* Conduct accuracy checking as required.
* Support the team across both Queen Margaret and Victoria Hospital Pharmacy Departments.
* Participate in a weekend and public holiday rota.
Qualifications
* Newly qualified Pharmacy Technician or expected to register within 3 months.
* Strong motivation to learn and develop full training will be provided.
* Commitment to accuracy and quality in pharmacy practice.
Working Hours and Schedules
You will be based at Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy and will work variable shifts between 08:00‑18:00 Monday to Friday, with weekend and public holiday duty. As from 1/4/26 the Agenda for Change full‑time working week will reduce from 37 to 36 hours per week; part‑time hours will be reduced pro‑rata, with a corresponding increase in hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
Legal and Training Requirements
A requirement of this post is to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme before appointment. Applicants must also demonstrate a right to work in the United Kingdom or be eligible to be sponsored.
