Supplier Manager – Dorchester (Dorset)
Salary: £50,000 plus fantastic benefits, annual bonus, and potential relocation allowance.
Melbreck Technical is a leading designer and supplier of specialist equipment used in a huge range of industries across the globe. Due to an increase in supplier‑led initiatives in the UK, we are looking for a Supplier Manager to join the business ASAP on a permanent basis.
As a Supplier Manager you will be responsible for the performance and risk management of key suppliers, as well as the identification and delivery of value‑add opportunities.
Role overview and responsibilities
* Identify and develop new suppliers, materials, and technologies.
* Build and develop beneficial relationships with suppliers.
* Identify key suppliers.
* Develop and implement vendor strategy.
* Manage risk.
* Lead, oversee, and carry out product and process audits.
* Control vendor selection for NPI (New Product Introductions).
* Communicate with UK quality manager and global head of supply chain.
* Work with vendors to ensure supply‑chain changes follow the required change‑approval process.
* Investigate process non‑conformances, perform root‑cause analysis, instigate corrective action, and perform 8D’s where required.
* Track and correct supplier performance.
* Promote a culture of continuous improvement.
What are we looking for?
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel inside the UK when needed.
* BTEC, HNC, D or similar degree in supply‑chain management, business studies, or relevant engineering or supply‑chain qualifications or experience.
* A strong proven track‑record in leading procurement exercises (inviting/selecting tenders, managing contracts) and/or contract development work and/or developing suppliers.
* A track‑record in making a significant contribution towards developing and improving the procurement function.
* Extensive experience in buying/sourcing with a good understanding of UK export controls and an awareness of US export/re‑export control legislation.
* Experience negotiating contracts and agreements with suppliers.
