We are seeking an ambitious energy storage focused Senior Engineer to join our UK Transmission and Distribution (T&D) business. The focus of this role is renewables and energy storage, grid connections, and private networks at voltage levels normally between 11kV to 400kV. Typical projects include feasibility, optioneering, FEED, detailed design and design assurance on existing or new build renewable generation, including pumped storage hydro, PV and wind – typically with collocated Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
Responsibilities
Here’s what you’ll do:
* Have the opportunity to work on large projects and frameworks with renewable energy generation developers, mostly in UK and Ireland but also with some global projects
* Undertake Front End Engineering Design (FEED), design for planning, feasibility studies etc. of energy storage systems including associated grid connections, control and metering
* Work with Internal AECOM clients delivering large renewable generation or private wire projects
* Provide some support and gain exposure to bidding, project and quality management

Qualifications
Here’s what we’re looking for:
* Previous experience with consultancy, contractor, equipment manufacturer or electrical utility in the energy sector. Suitable experience as FEED designer, detailed design or owner’s engineer role
* A good understanding of both renewable generation and energy storage technology in general and, in particular, battery storage technology of all types and chemistries
* Experience designing the HV grid connection, metering, control requirements etc. associated with battery storage installations, including BESS collocated with renewable energy generation
* Knowledge of grid connection requirements for renewable generation and energy storage, including G59, G99 etc.
* Good understanding of electrical plant items and control systems such as transformers, cables, circuit breakers, HV Protection & Control
* Good team player with a client-focused mindset and customer facing skills
* Ability to work flexibly across multiple projects
Here’s what we’re ideally looking for:
* Project management experience (incl. budget, time and quality)
* Electrical Engineering Degree
* Experience of multi-discipline engineering projects
* Experience of design & site construction review
* The role is focused on energy storage, but knowledge of grid connection considerations will be advantageous
