We're looking for a Kitchen Assistant to join our friendly team at The Beehive Day Nursery in Taunton.
About the Role
You will play a key part in helping us provide fresh, nutritious meals for up to 62 children per day, supporting their health, wellbeing, and development.
We pride ourselves on producing the most nutritious food, all homemade and prepared from scratch in our on-site, industrial kitchen with excellent facilities. We offer a wide range of meals to expose children to many different textures and flavours, including favourites such as coconut fish curry and our bright green, all-natural, and totally delicious spinach scones
You will assist in preparing and serving meals and snacks in line with dietary requirements and food hygiene standards. You will also help maintain our 5-star food hygiene rating by following food safety procedures, cleaning schedules, and record-keeping requirements.
This role also includes flexibility to work additional hours during the Kitchen Team's holidays or periods of absence.

Key Responsibilities
* Assist in preparing, labelling, and serving meals and snacks
* Follow menus and individual dietary requirements, including allergies and allergen management
* Maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen
* Keep food safety records
* Support the Nursery Cook and cover their duties when needed
* Help with general nursery tasks as required
What We're Looking For
* A genuine interest in cooking and food preparation
* Experience in a kitchen or early years setting is desirable
* Great attention to detail, time management, and organisation
* A sense of fun and joy, and ability to work independently
* A team player who's proactive and flexible
Training Provided
If not already held, we'll support you to complete:
* Level 3 Food Hygiene Certificate
* Allergen Awareness Training
* Basic Safeguarding Training

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From £12.21 per hour
Expected hours: 15 – 20 per week
Work Location: In person
