Our client is a proactive local authority committed to delivering sustainable and affordable housing solutions for its communities. Due to increased project demand, they are now looking to recruit an experienced Housing Strategy Officer to join their housing team on a 3-month temporary contract, based in Hertford, Hertfordshire .

About the Role
You will support the delivery of affordable housing across the district by working closely with developers, planning teams, and registered providers. This role requires strong strategic thinking, excellent data skills, and a good understanding of housing policy and planning requirements. This is a proactive role that involves housing strategy work, policy development, and supporting planning applications to ensure the right mix of affordable housing is achieved.
Responsibilities
Manage the delivery of new affordable housing projects within the district.
Negotiate affordable housing elements in planning applications.
Compile planning consultation responses and provide pre-application advice.
Act as the first point of contact for developers, landowners, and housing partners.
Support the development of housing policy and strategic plans.
Assist with HCLIC and other statutory housing data submissions.
Use Excel and data tools to support reporting and analysis.
About You
Are you a housing professional with a strong grasp of planning policy, data analysis, and housing delivery? If so, wed love to hear from you. You will need:
A strong understanding of housing policy and strategic planning.
Excellent analytical skills and confidence working with Excel.
Experience with HCLIC and other housing-related data systems.
Ability to communicate and collaborate across departments and with external stakeholders.
General education qualification (essential).
Experience with Locata systems is desirable.
