New Beginnings Trust Grade Doctor
Closing date: 17 June 2026.
Location: Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust (RDaSH).
This is a full-time medical post in the inpatient drug and alcohol detoxification unit New Beginnings within Aspire Doncaster Drug and Alcohol Services.
The post holder is supported by a full-time Addiction Psychiatrist.
This post includes two sessions of Supporting Programmed Activities (SPAs), allowing the post holder to pursue continuous professional development, service development, management, teaching, or research interests.
Key Responsibilities
* Complete comprehensive medical assessments, including physical examination.
* Prescribe a variety of medications for physical or mental health conditions, detoxification, and emergencies.
* Develop and review detoxification plans in line with patient progress.
* Respond to and manage medical and mental health emergencies related to detoxification or other health problems.
* Contribute to twice-dayly MDT meetings.
* Collaborate effectively within the multidisciplinary team.
Qualifications
* Full registration with the GMC and licence to practise.
Experience
* Ability to complete comprehensive assessments and develop appropriate treatment plans covering mental and physical health issues.
* Experience assessing and managing medical emergencies.
* Experience safely prescribing medications for physical and mental health conditions.
* Experience recording clinical assessments and management plans accurately and legibly.
* Experience working effectively with colleagues, demonstrating strong teamwork.
* Experience maintaining good medical practice.
* Experience in teaching and training.
* Experience in psychiatric practice across a range of settings.
* Experience treating patients with substance misuse issues.
Skills
* Demonstrated proficiency in written and spoken English adequate for medical communication. Evidence may include undergraduate medical training in English or an IELTS score of at least 7.5 in a single sitting within 24 months of application.
* Capacity to develop a role within the service, emphasizing leadership of quality and clinical standards and engagement in service improvement.
* Commitment to continuing professional development.
* Knowledge of research processes.

Salary
£54,499 – £67,325 depending on experience.
