Overview Of The Role
We are looking to appoint a Principal Ports Engineer with gas and liquid products experience who will join our growing Ports Team. You will collaborate with peers and early career professionals and be expected to:
* Conduct pre‑feasibility and feasibility studies for marine facilities of new gas or liquid product terminals.
* Prepare and present technical reports and other technical material to clients and stakeholders.
* Lead the structural design delivery of marine jetties for gas and liquid products, and support others in developing engineering calculations, drawings, and specification documents.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate jetty structure design with topside process and other equipment necessary for terminal operation and safety.
* Support constructability assessments and the preparation of construction sequences.
* Lead the preparation of the technical volume of tender documents.
* Review and approve contractor designs to ensure quality and adherence to project performance specifications.
* Support early career professionals in developing skills associated with the design of gas and liquid product terminals.
* Participate and represent Mott MacDonald in industry events and technical fora.
* Support the team in business development and client engagement activities when required.
Candidate specification
* A degree in Civil/Structural Engineering (or equivalent).
* Chartered or near‑chartership with a relevant professional institution.
* Ability to deliver complex projects from concept through execution within set deadlines and budget constraints.
* Proven experience in undertaking structural design calculations for jetty structures and leading others in the same, with strong knowledge of API, AISC, OCIMF, BS 6349, Eurocode, PIANC, and other relevant standards.
* Experience and proficiency in structural design software and integration with CAD software.
* Strong communication, team working, excellent problem‑solving skills, and a drive to innovate.
* Availability for overseas travel when required.
