Our client is a leading multi-discipline contractor with a large presence across the transportation sector. They are recruiting an Assistant Buyer to assist procurement activities on a major rail enhancement project in Acton.
As the Assistant Buyer, you will be responsible for supporting the Procurement Manager with procuring for subcontractors and suppliers, purchasing and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and issue subcontract tenders and paperwork
Negotiate with suppliers to get the best price, quality, and delivery times
Process purchase requests from approved suppliers, making sure they meet budget and quality standards
Work closely with colleagues, suppliers and subcontractors to make sure service levels are met
Support meetings by preparing agendas, taking notes and sharing follow-ups
Produce simple reports, spreadsheets, and presentations using MS Office
Handle incoming enquiries and correspondence, drafting responses where needed
The ideal Assistant Buyer will have:
Proven experience in procurement or buying activities within transportation.
Ideally experience working in the rail industry, otherwise water, highways or utilities
Excellent communication and time-management skills.
PC literate.
