Required Experience/Skills Geo-Environmental Engineer
The position will support the growing Geo-Environmental team in the North East, with a Teesside-based office, supported by our hubs in Leeds and Newcastle. The Engineer will deliver Geo-Environmental services across various sectors.
The role involves both Geotechnical and Environmental site assessments and ground risk evaluations, with opportunities to specialise over time. The workload offers exposure to the full spectrum of Geo-Environmental services. The role also includes supporting the development of a local team and client base.
Main Duties:
1. Planning and conducting ground investigations;
2. Liaising with clients and regulatory bodies regarding schemes;
3. Supervising remedial works on-site;
4. Producing Geo-Environmental Reports such as Phase I Desk Studies, Phase II Reports, Ground Investigation Reports, Geotechnical Design Reports, Remediation Method Statements, and Material Management Plans;
5. Assessing sites for Geo-Environmental risks, progressing towards specialising in contamination or geotechnical aspects;
6. Preparing site investigation logs using AGS Data;
7. Learning specialist drafting and design software such as SlopeW and DQRA software.
Training & Development:
You will be supported to work towards a relevant professional qualification in Civil or Geological Engineering, such as CEng or CGeol. You will be encouraged to attend training courses, seminars, and industry events to meet Continuing Professional Development requirements of your professional body. Opportunities for career advancement within the project team and company will also be available.
Education & Learning Experience:
1. A Degree in a related discipline;
2. Membership of an appropriate Institution;
3. An MSc in a related discipline is desirable;
4. Ideally, over 3 years of experience in the Geo-Environmental field, fulfilling some of the main duties.
