Geospatial Data Scientist Role (Junior & Senior)
Overview:
BirdsEyeView is an InsurTech venture based in London, building Natural Catastrophe Modelling software for reinsurance and insurers globally. The software models floods, wildfires, cyclones, and more, helping assess climate-related risks.
The technology ecosystem includes climate data infrastructure, scalable development, and machine learning data processing, aiding underwriters in managing climate change risks.
About the role:
You will support the development of the Weather Analytics platform, providing climate and weather analytics to insurance partners to improve underwriting.
Join a small team of scientists, developers, and insurance experts, impacting business applications and product development. Ideal for those interested in climate data, technology, and insurance industry insights.
This role offers growth opportunities and involvement in various business areas.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support strategy and implementation of the Weather Analytics platform.
* Process meteorological datasets via partnership with the European Space Agency.
* Develop models for wildfire, hurricane, tornado, lightning, earthquake, and flood risks.
* Collaborate with Business Development to create new products and features.
* Evaluate and implement suitable technology solutions.
* Bachelor's in Computer Science, Statistics, Physics, or related; Master's preferred.
* 4+ years for Mid/Senior, 2+ years for Junior/Mid roles.
* Proficiency in Python, experience with large geospatial datasets, knowledge of statistical modeling, understanding of web systems, and strong autonomous work skills.
Nice to Have:
* Experience with JIRA, Confluence, GitLab, AWS
* Experience with ERA5/Climate Data
* Experience with MLOps
* Knowledge of Insurance Market
