Hays Engineering are delighted to be partnering with a leading specialist machinery manufacturer based in Co. Armagh. This innovative and forward-thinking organisation designs and builds high-performance equipment for global markets and is recognised for its investment in cutting-edge technology and product development.Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of new projects, the company is seeking to appoint a Senior Design Engineer to play a pivotal role in advancing its next generation of products.
Your new role
As a Senior Design Engineer, you will take a lead role in R&D and new product development, working from concept through to production. You will be responsible for driving innovation, improving existing designs, and delivering high-quality engineering solutions aligned with customer and market requirements.
Key responsibilities will include:
Leading R&D activities focused on new product development and innovation
Designing and developing mechanical systems and components using 3D CAD (e.g. SolidWorks)
Conducting feasibility studies, prototyping, and product testing
Enhancing existing machinery designs for performance, reliability, and manufacturability
Performing engineering analysis and validation of designs
Collaborating with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, electrical, and procurement
Supporting projects from concept through to production and market release
Producing and maintaining detailed engineering documentationWhat you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this role, you will have:
A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
Significant experience in design engineering within a machinery or manufacturing environment
Strong background in R&D and new product development
Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks)
Experience with prototyping, testing, and design validation
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
Strong communication and leadership abilities
