NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included. The shift pattern for this post are Monday to Friday. There may be requirement to cover other shifts as per nursing contracts including weekends Please be advised that, effective 1 April 2026, the full-time working hours for all Agenda for Change posts will be reduced to 36 hours. In conjunction with the management team contribute to and deliver a comprehensive Blood borne virus(BBV) and sexual health service. The role sits within the wider Alcohol and drug recovery service with and expectation to participate within this team. Service in partnership with Primary Care and Mental Health practitioners as part of a multi-disciplinary team within the prison setting and to deliver a comprehensive blood borne virus service. To operate as part of an extensive multi-disciplinary team, providing the role of the Senior Practitioner Nurse to undertake assessments, provide and evaluate a range of health interventions, to meet prisoner healthcare needs and contribute to the wider continuous development of prison healthcare services. Demonstrate knowledge, skills and understanding of BBV issues and treatment options to provide clinical guidance to all staff on matters relating to health and wellbeing. Driving licence desirable but not essential however will need to have ability to access prison health care areas The post holder carries continuing responsibility for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programs of care and the setting of standards of care within a secure environment.
