We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate senior nurse to join our Neurorehabilitation Unit, providing expert leadership and delivering high-quality, patient-centred care to individuals recovering from neurological injury and illness. The post holder will demonstrate advanced clinical expertise in neurological care, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to evidence-based practice. They will coordinate day-to-day unit operations, support and develop staff, and work collaboratively with medical, therapy, and community teams to ensure safe, effective, and goal-focused rehabilitation. This role requires excellent clinical judgement, effective communication skills, and the ability to lead in a fast-paced yet rewarding environment where every intervention contributes to meaningful patient outcomes. Main duties of the job The post holder will provide strong clinical leadership within the Neurorehabilitation Unit, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centred care for individuals with complex neurological conditions. They will coordinate the day-to-day running of the unit, maintain appropriate staffing and skill mix, and support the multidisciplinary team in delivering goal-oriented rehabilitation programmes. Key responsibilities include assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating individualised care; recognising and responding to changes in patients’ neurological and physical conditions; and ensuring accurate documentation and adherence to Trust policies and professional standards. The role involves supervising, mentoring and appraising staff, supporting professional development, and contributing to a positive learning environment. The post holder will work collaboratively with medical staff, therapy teams and community services to facilitate effective discharge planning and continuity of care. They will also contribute to service improvement initiatives, audit, research activities, risk management, and the promotion of infection prevention and patient safety standards. Acting as a role model, the post holder will uphold the Trust’s values, promote patient advocacy, and ensure privacy, dignity and respect are maintained at all times. Person specification Qualifications Essential criteria Registration on Part 1, or 12 of NMC Register (RGN/RN Adult) or equivalent Desirable criteria Teaching Qualification or equivalent / Mentor Course. Experience Essential criteria Minimum of 2 years’ experience in related speciality at previous grade. Evidence of ward management. Experience of leading, motivating and supporting a team. Experience of monitoring clinical practice. Desirable criteria Experience of presenting to others.
