Overview
Adherence to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and safety standards. Involves working with Cold Room/Freezers at -22°C, with PPE requirements (safety glasses, gowning, gloves, lab coat, ear plugs, etc.). Based at our Horsham site, this role supports production including serialization & commercial equipment and other areas of the business, such as the Warehouse, with equipment breakdowns and overtime. Works to minimize downtime in accordance with GMP and Good Engineering Practice (GEP), and follows Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The role requires taking responsibility for own actions and deliverables, managing own time, and following planned maintenance schedules within the PPM (Preventive Planned Maintenance) schedule. Identifies preventative maintenance needs and addresses these. Active participation in training and other work to ensure continuing technical and personal development to meet business needs. Flexibility to work shifts, core, nights and weekends when required depending on production demands.
Responsibilities
* Continuously improve all packaging, serialization, commercial equipment, and packaging operations. Evaluate and analyze current process metrics and performance to identify areas requiring improvements. Analyze and find opportunities to reduce process variation, improve process capabilities and optimize process performance. Rectify issues and work with various teams to reduce process and business variations. Create/amend procedures to meet new/changed requirements.
* Maintain GMP and GEP adherence and follow SOPs. Follow planned maintenance schedules in accordance with equipment and regulatory requirements within the PPM schedule. Identify preventative maintenance needs and address these.
* Discuss problems with other team members and the team leader; agree on course of action. Ensure detailed handovers occur, participate in meetings and provide constructive input.
* Actively partake in training and other work to ensure continuing technical and personal development. Train and guide resources as needed.
* Responsible for managing and completing assigned work. Work mainly on double day shift, with flexibility to cover core, nights and weekend work when required depending on production demands.
* Delivery of projects as a project manager or project engineer. Include new equipment installation, development & improvement, and assistance in associated validation work.
* Liaise with internal customers and machine suppliers to resolve machine problems; request or initiate supplier visits if required.
* Ensure health and safety procedures are followed (e.g., near miss reporting, risk assessments).
Qualifications
* NVQ level 3, HND or higher in Electrical Engineering or equivalent; 17th edition or 18th edition wiring regulations.
* Proven ability to analyse complex technical issues to the fundamental level and propose practical solutions; experience in driving continuous improvement and working within process industries.
* Detailed knowledge and working application of Engineering Standards.
* Knowledge and experience of utilizing and implementing CI tools such as 5S, Kaizen, etc.
