Responsibilities:
1. Deliver to a high standard a wide range of traffic engineering projects across the UK in accordance with current national/local standards, guidance and best practice
2. Deliver traffic engineering projects in accordance with ergonomic, economic and sustainable principles
3. Assessment and mitigation of risks associated with traffic engineering projects
4. Travel to site visits, validations, and customer meetings with overnight stays where appropriate
5. Preparation of technical reports and specifications
6. Technical checking/approval of traffic engineering schemes before delivery to customers
7. Preparation of consultancy/design quotations
8. Project management and financial tracking
Qualifications & Experience:
The key competencies and capabilities for this role are:
9. High level of communication skills, both verbal and written and working collaboratively
10. Ability to solve complex traffic engineering problems and managing customer’s expectations
11. Ability to achieve objectives with strict deadlines and manage your own and others workload
Required experience:
To have a technical, in-depth understanding and proven track record of the following traffic engineering competencies:
12. Traffic signal design fundamentals and UK standards/specifications
13. Traffic engineering software including AutoCAD, with KeySignals, and modelling software such as LinSig or Transyt
14. In-depth knowledge of traffic signal products from across the industry
15. In-depth knowledge and proven track record using systems such as UTC or UTMC
16. In-depth knowledge and proven track record of adaptive control strategies such as SCOOT or MOVA, including experience with setup and on-site validation
17. Experience undertaking Factory and Site Acceptance Testing
Educational Requirements
18. HNC/HND/Degree level in engineering in a related subject is preferred or have relevant experience
