Design & Technical Trainee (Level 4 Apprenticeship)
Location: Essex (CM13) – Hybrid working
Salary: £21,000 + bonus + excellent benefits

Via is supporting a leading UK residential developer in the search for a Design & Technical Trainee to join their growing technical team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a school or college leaver to begin a long-term career in construction, design, and project delivery. You’ll gain hands-on experience across live residential developments while working towards a Level 4 Construction Design & Build Technician Apprenticeship.

What you’ll be doing
You’ll play a key support role across the full lifecycle of construction projects, from early design through to completion. Responsibilities include:
* Supporting the coordination of design information across multiple projects
* Assisting with planning, design development, and technical documentation
* Helping ensure projects meet building regulations and compliance standards
* Identifying potential health & safety risks within designs
* Supporting sustainability initiatives and reducing environmental impact
* Working closely with architects and consultants on detailed designs
* Monitoring quality standards across developments
* Assisting commercial teams with cost tracking and project performance
What we’re looking for
This is an entry-level role, ideal for someone at the beginning of their career:
* Minimum 4 GCSEs (grades 4–9) including Maths and English
* A Level 3 qualification (A Levels, T Level, or BTEC Diploma or equivalent)
* Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
* Confident communicator, able to build relationships with a range of stakeholders
* Good IT skills (Excel and Word essential; any exposure to project tools is a bonus)
* Proactive mindset with the ability to take initiative
* Full UK driving licence (desirable)
Nice to have (but not essential)
* Any exposure to construction, design, or the built environment
* An interest in architecture, engineering, or property development
