Overview
Balfour Beatty is seeking a dynamic and experienced Section Engineer to contribute to the Net Zero Teesside project based at our new site in Redcar and Cleveland. What you'll be doing is providing engineering control and ensuring quality, safety, productivity and commercial outcomes on the project.
Responsibilities
Engineering Control
* Carry out complex setting out;
* Provision of 'primary' setting out control and recognise the optimum location for installation;
* Coach the use of setting out techniques;
* Carry out calibration checks on equipment.
Quality
* Produce Activity Control Plans;
* Actively use the Specification as a reference document;
* Maintain a comprehensive filing system of quality records;
* Identify, raise and act on Non‑Conformance Reports;
* Identify and raise Technical Queries with possible solutions.
Health Safety & Environmental
* Produce Method Statements and Risk Assessments;
* Prepare and raise Temporary Works Briefs;
* Carry out short‑term Visitors Induction;
* Complete Accident Book and associated reports as required;
* Actively participate in Safety Drives on the scheme;
* Use the Observation tool for both areas of improvement and excellence.
Productivity
* Assist in the production of a weekly programme and measure progress against KPIs;
* Communicate weekly programme and targets to the workforce;
* Create and maintain a daily diary for upload to BIM 360;
* Drive output safely and identify waste streams to ensure optimum performance.
Commercial
* Collate weekly measure information and monitor wastage against budget allowances / KPIs;
* Carry out labour and plant reconciliation;
* Identify items of additional work and raise the necessary notifications;
* Work to the specific terms, conditions and outputs of relevant subcontractors and suppliers.
Qualifications
* Capability to carry out complex setting out;
* Experience producing ACP and construction tolerances;
* Knowledge of the Specification and other contract documents;
* Understanding of the permit system and ability to raise permits actively;
* Proactive identification and implementation of hazard controls;
* Understanding of the 3‑week stage programme and key contract documentation;
* Experience working with subcontractors and suppliers with specific terms and conditions.
