Job Purpose
The role involves ensuring environmental conditions are maintained across sites in the North of England, carrying out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), reactive, and breakdown works on mechanical and electrical systems.
Key Responsibilities:
* Travel to sites across the region; full UK driving license required.
* Perform routine PPM in accordance with site schedules and asset lists.
* Complete reactive tasks and proactively identify areas for improvement.
* Address plant faults and defects promptly to maintain operational order.
* Manage spares and provide parts lists and time estimates for remedial works.
* Complete all necessary paperwork promptly and accurately.
* Prepare and use Method Statements and Risk Assessments for all tasks.
* Maintain good working relationships with staff, subcontractors, and clients.
* Ensure a safe and healthy working environment, including PPE usage.
* Present a professional image at all times.
* Keep shift logs updated and plant rooms tidy and secure.
* Supervise subcontractors during maintenance works.
* Provide holiday and sickness cover, and be flexible with working patterns.
* Undertake lone working as required after training.
* Complete assigned tasks with H&S awareness and in line with KPIs/SLA.
* Maintain the Computer Based Maintenance system (SI LOCAL).
* Operate Permit to Work system per safety procedures.
* Provide emergency coverage at various sites as needed.
* Perform any other tasks as directed by management.
Qualifications:
* Good basic education with proficiency in written and spoken English.
* Basic mathematics skills.
* CITY AND GUILDS qualification in a relevant field.
Skills:
* Commitment to excellent customer service.
* Calm under pressure, able to make sound decisions.
* Physically capable of carrying tools/components up to 20kg.
* Able to work at heights and on vertical access equipment.
* Team player, able to work with diverse teams.
* Good PC skills.
Knowledge:
* General building works, diagnostics, and repair procedures.
* Building services systems and maintenance schedules.
* Electrical/mechanical maintenance training.
* BMS knowledge.
* Mechanical and commissioning experience.
* Recognised Health and Safety Qualification (e.g., IOSH).
* Knowledge of UPS, Generators, HV, PDU’s, CRAC units, fault-finding skills using alarm data.
* Understanding of asset maintenance demarcation in lab and production environments.
Experience:
* Mechanical maintenance skills.
* Experience maintaining relevant mechanical and electrical equipment.
* Knowledge of building works, diagnostics, and repair procedures.
Circumstances:
* Willingness to provide holiday and sickness cover at short notice.
* Full UK driving license required.
