Active Dundee is searching for various Assistant Casual Coaches to assist with term-time programmes across Leisure and Culture Dundee facilities. We are looking for coaches in Netball, Basketball, and Ultimate Frisbee to support participants from age 3 to adulthood.
Requirements
* Netball: Introduction to Coaching Award (Level 1)
* Ultimate Frisbee: Level 1X
* Basketball: Introduction to Coaching (Level 1)
* SVQ and/or NGB Level 1 Sports Coaching Award, depending on the sport applied for
Responsibilities
As part of a dynamic Leisure and Sport section, you will lead the delivery of sports programmes (Ultimate Frisbee, Netball, Basketball) for Leisure & Culture Dundee. This includes coaching a variety of individuals and groups while adhering to Scottish Governing Body (SGB) guidelines and specified coach-to-participant ratios.
The Individual
The successful candidate will have relevant work or voluntary experience in practical sports coaching, ideally within multi-sport environments, with involvement in delivering sessions across the mentioned physical activity programmes. Experience supporting the delivery of structured sessions to children, young people, and adults of varying ages and abilities, including those with additional support needs, is essential.
You should have demonstrated the ability to assist in planning and delivering inclusive, engaging activities tailored to diverse participant needs. A sound understanding of adapting delivery to different learning styles and physical capabilities is required.
You must be well-organised, capable of maintaining accurate records, managing equipment, and supporting smooth session operations. Effective communication with participants, parents, and colleagues, along with providing constructive feedback, is important for supporting individual progress and programme development.
You should be able to work independently and as part of a team, showing initiative, reliability, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. A strong commitment to health and safety, safeguarding, and professional standards is essential, along with following established procedures to foster a positive and inclusive environment.
Demonstrating enthusiasm for sport and physical activity, encouraging participation, and supporting others' development are key qualities. Flexibility and adaptability to changing needs and environments, including working evenings and weekends, are required.
A commitment to ongoing personal and professional development, including participation in relevant training and qualifications, is expected. The candidate must be a member of the PVG Scheme or willing to join, with a satisfactory Scheme Record and/or Scheme Record Update.
