<div><p>As a Chemistry Support Specialist, you will provide first‑line technical support for chemistry equipment, including bespoke systems. You will work closely with scientists and service providers to ensure laboratory equipment operates safely, efficiently and in line with Service Level Agreements (SLAs).</p><p>You are invited to join our team in Macclesfield as a Chemistry Support Specialist (Laboratory Maintenance Technician).</p><h3>Responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Maintain, troubleshoot and repair glass jacketed reactors, heater/chiller circulators, pipework and fittings, rotavaps and vacuum pumps.</li><li>Handle gas cylinders, lecture bottles, regulators and specialty gases safely.</li><li>Diagnose equipment issues and implement effective solutions.</li><li>Ensure laboratory equipment is fit for purpose through planned maintenance schedules.</li><li>Manage stock levels of consumables and spare parts.</li><li>Perform equipment performance checks and act as a superuser where required.</li><li>Collaborate with internal and external service providers and laboratory scientists.</li><li>Develop SOPs, quick‑reference guides and risk assessments.</li><li>Contribute to continuous improvement, efficiency gains and cost‑saving initiatives.</li><li>Train and support colleagues where needed.</li></ul><h3>Experience</h3><ul><li>Experience working in a laboratory or similar technical environment.</li><li>Strong mechanical or engineering knowledge (essential).</li></ul><h3>Knowledge & Expertise</h3><ul><li>Good understanding of laboratory processes and safety standards.</li><li>Familiarity with SOPs, SLAs and KPIs.</li><li>Familiarity with pressure systems and material compatibility.</li><li>Knowledge of GLP / GMP (desirable).</li><li>Knowledge of laboratory plumbing (e.g., Swagelok) is advantageous (training provided).</li></ul><h3>Skills</h3><ul><li>Competent with workshop tools and hands‑on technical tasks.</li><li>Strong problem‑solving ability with a logical approach.</li><li>Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).</li><li>Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Teams, Word, Excel).</li><li>Good planning, organisational and time‑management skills.</li><li>Ability to manage workload independently in line with SLAs.</li></ul><h3>Personal Attributes</h3><ul><li>Customer‑focused with a collaborative mindset.</li><li>Self‑motivated and accountable.</li><li>Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.</li><li>Mechanically minded with a proactive approach to problem solving.</li><li>Committed to high standards, continuous improvement and excellence.</li><li>Positive, respectful team player with strong influencing skills.</li></ul><p>The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned to this classification.
